After 2 years of use?

Been using kratom for over 2 years and for the last 4 months I’ve had muscle spasms I’m not sure if this is caused by kratom or not but Ive never had muscle spasms in my life and they just haven’t went away. I haven’t been able to see a dr but I will soon. My question is can kratom cause spasms on the long run?

hey friend , I believe you’ve posted here in the past , good to see you again,
not being a doctor, I immediately think about your electrolyte levels…. Are you staying hydrated ? … and then some? Cause I’m sure you know the necessity to drink extra water when utilizing kratom.
ive only heard of one other person ( and dear friend) that takes kratom and started to experience muscle spasms after many years, but this may be a coincidence and not a direct result of kratom ingestion .

- Yea it’s been a while since I’ve been here. I’m glad everything is still running good here. I see. I have been running a lot lately which brings me to my next question. What about relentless leg syndrome. Some days I get it worst than others and I only get it night which is when I usually take my kratom. Does kratom have a specific half life? Aside from those 2 side effects nothing else has changed within the last 2 and half years of taking it.

yes , def has a half life …. I think roughly 12 hrs… but so t quote me on that ! Of course this will vary based on a persons age, health , metabolism and how frequent you consume kratom . Like with THC…. Those who only occasionally consume ganja will tend to flush out faster than someone whose a chronic partaker of the herb . Body weight / fat plays a big role in this as well.
I believe on the kratom science website (and others I can’t remember atm) have more accurate details / facts regarding kratom’s half life .
Ive heard of many folks experiencing RLS “restless leg syndrome “ when taking tolerance breaks … I can’t personally comment as I’ve only had two 2 day breaks in the almost five years I’ve been utilizing kratom . I didn’t experience RLS, but I was also taking akuamma during my break …. I’m sure it’s just a variable phenomenon from person to person .

yea I get relentless leg sometimes not all the times. And it starts when my body hasn’t had any in around 12 hours like you stated on the half life. I was just wondering.
the muscle spasms make sense for the most part. But I will still see my doctor to see what’s going on with my spasms Atleast. I know the relentless might just be my body asking for the kratom. Thanks a lot for the reply’s I appreciate it.

@thehor , hey brother,
yeah man, the body after a while will become acclimated to having kratom and will ( for some folks ) cause restless leg syndrome if you wait to long before taking another serving . Pretty much two options , one is to take a break and cleanse for some time , no kratom …. And then reintroduce it back if that’s your intention. The other is to not wait 12 hrs before taking your kratom serving. Take it sooner. For me personally , I take kratom several times a day , I’ll wait 4 hrs in between servings , 6 hrs on occasion. My body is dependent on the relief and benefits from taking it daily multiple times a day . Just like with most things in life , if you take something regularly and then stop abruptly, your body will let you know . I think of coffee as a good example. Folks will get gnarly headaches and be irritable for some time, till you either drink some or tough it out and cleanse. This will vary from person to person , and also depends on the frequency of use .
Please come back and let us know how things are going and if there’s been any progress or epiphanies gained .
Take care my friend 🍂🙏

My apologies for the late arrival here. I tried replying twice before and ended up ditching those long as& replies.
I used kratom on some level for the last 8 years but only the last 3 were pretty well constant with a few breaks for tolerance.
When I had to quit using kratom to get some blood work done (without blaming kratom for causing or interfering with my results). Suddenly quitting was not entirely possible. I got to ALMOST NONE and then used mitragynine-only concentrate (not a full spectrum extract, however extraction is the process used to isolate alkaloids). This non-extract-non-full spectrum concentrated drops helped me out with a complete quit of kratom for 7 days straight. So I got my labs done and indeed, problems continue and are NOT RELATED TO KRATOM USE.
So when I completed this process, I was a bit nervous about how dependent I become and not proud of the struggle there..so I tried my usual leaf and GOT MUSCLE SPASMS bad.
Heres the worst part: I had been using kratom to minimize these same muscle spasms in the days up until this.
To this day, I get debilitating muscle spasms on my glutes (butt muscles) and RLS can occur from this AND ALSO I get RLS at night when cutting out kratom.
I WAS SO BUMMED to be “betrayed” by the leaf I’ve advocated for
The take-away is this; muscle cramps is a side effect of kratom for some. It’s not as common as taking too much and puking. It matters not how much was ingested. Every try leads to a full overnight of disappointment when I tried and I’m now using ONLY mitragynine and the benefits are EVEN MORE SUBTLE.
I still get SOME pain relief. The most important benefit is the deterrent from cravings for opiates, booze, etc. By keeping a tiny alkaloid in my system, I am not in pain and constantly thinking about what to take for it.
I recommend you do some tests at home when you can afford to not walk much and try again and see what happens?!
Sorry this is so longgggg
Have a wee bit better day!

Oh yeah. My doctors initially blamed the kratom for all of my medical issues until I removed them and tested again.
If you ask your dr if you should discontinue kratom, they will definitely agree you should. They MIGHT stop seeing other possible causes unless you do this elimination process and test how your muscles feel.
The alkaloid isolation processes are ground-breaking innovation and it might be something you can consider. It’s a lot weaker than leaf, but I’m glad to be able to use it without muscle spasms.
I musta complained about those cramps for 4 years before this. So embarrassing!
Have a wee bit better day!

hey there @nope-noway !
Thays the first I’ve heard of kratom stripping away magnesium from ones body. My understanding is that (depending on what type of magnesium) it can help with tolerance, help with bowel movements and sometimes can boost kratom’s effects .
I use CALM, has magnesium citrate along with some vit c … it’s possible the vit c is responsible for enhancing kratom’s effects … but when I’ve used this product shortly after my kratom serving , feels more potent !
If you have any reference link about kratom creating magnesium deficiencies, please post them 🙂
Hope all is well and the kratom is extra good for everyone this evening ..!!..

@laurie hey Laurie thank you for the answer. Although I still haven’t been to the doctor I have managed to slow the spasms down with magnisum. I’m down to about 6 grams a day of kratom use. I’m planning on visiting my doctor soon though. Hope you been well Laurie.

Unfortunately muscle spasms are among the most common yet rare side effect of kratom use for some of us.
I do regret not mentioning magnesium citrate for bowel flow, and for minor RLS at night.
The magnesium works with or without a kratom lifestyle but it doesn’t relieve my other muscle spasms that are definitely caused by my kratom use.
Still bummin but I am much more responsible with what and how much I ingest now. But that’s cause I’m heading frighteningly close to age 60 and suddenly metabolism is gone and weight is ON!
Even my water intake is TOO HIGH now! I’m telling you that I have been suffering with trying to drink less water! I’m never without it! 🤪

Ok so I've drank kratom tea for 18 years and I had this problem myself when I first started. you're not drinking enough water. Actually, you should try Gatorade, that seemed to help me. Hope everything works out.
I've been enjoying Kratom powder for almost 19 years now. I am a strong advocate for this plant & a Kratom vendor. I am thankful for the opportunities this plant has given me to help others who are struggling through the same things I once did.
We have lab-tested Kratom with 18 years experience!
The Kratom Family
I have been taking Kratom for well...maybe 3 years on a daily basis and have not had any issues.
I have settled on about 4 grams a dose about 2 sometimes 3 times a day
Have not bothered with tolerance breaks as my body seems to be happy with the level I am taking
I take it for pain from a motocycle accident where I recieved what is called a brachial plexus accident.
At this point will more than likely continue indefinitely but basically consider it in the same league as coffee which is another substance I take on a daily basis.
Some times due to being busy and such I have to skip a dose here and therew but it is only a minor inconvenience.
I have been away from this site for a while, in fact had to recreate my account but happy to be back.
Pat (in Georgia)

@goshawk , hey brother man ! Sorry to hear about the issue with your account, stoked your back and figured it out … what was the problem ? Wouldn’t let you log in ? I’ll let the administrators know .
I’ve come to the same sorta place as you … 4 gms per serving, but I’ll take it 4-5x a day. Which for me is great . I used to take bigger amounts, then found out the less is more wisdom (like I have many times in the past lol) still holds strong and true lol…
When I on occasion take 2gms … cutting my dose in half …I’m more impressed and happy than not with the results . Less is truly more !
really good to have you back Pat 🙂 … kinda rhymes lol….
