We see so many terrible TV and print news articles about kratom. Some say it's like a legal form of heroin that's being sold right here in our town! It may cause children to die! It's only a matter of time before something terrible happens to one of our loved ones who believe the lies that kratom is "safe", because it is "natural".

Where do all these crazy stories come from? And why are they all so similar?

In this blog, I go down the list and rebut most of the misunderstandings and exaggerations that the federal agencies -- that are supposed to inform us and protect us -- use to scare us aware from what can be a very useful and essentially harmless botanical (in the hands of an informed, rational consumer).

http://www.ilovekratom.com/kratom-news-blog/92-why-the-fda-double-standard-on-kratom

Coming from the same federal agencies that stood around while 60,000+ Americans died from taking the prescription arthritis medicine Vioxx, their campaign about how dangerous kratom is, might give you a laugh.

If nothing else, it'll help us keep things in perspective as we fight to keep this life-saving herb legal. :-bd

You'd think government would eventually learn better. They tried this with alcohol and then repealed it after a decade or so. Then they turn right around and ban marijuana and they haven't stopped since. Nearly a century in the war on drugs and it's been a disaster. I think the only think to save Kratom is for us to team up in our respective states, develop a gameplan, win over the hearts and minds of the public to create overwhelming opposition to a ban. In the end, they care about getting reelected.

Hi, Cori177:

Thanks for your thoughts on this important issue. The AKA is working very hard on keeping NY legal. It is a very crucial state. We hear from many people who, like you, never want to go back to opioid pain meds for their chronic pain, anxiety, depression, lethargy.

Anyway, thanks for sharing. It reminds me of why we do what we do. One of the best things you can do is to find professionals -- nurses, doctors, policemen -- who have pain and show them what kratom can do for them. We recently had a retired law enforcement guy in Alabama come to us and offer to help. He knows all the politicians, DA's, and judges, so when he tells them this stuff is a miracle it has changed a lot of minds in a very short time. If lawmakers would just TRY kratom, they would see it is nothing to worry about.

So, keep talking to people and networking. I believe we can succeed. There no good alternative.
