Gluten in kratom?

Now the doctors think I could have celiac disease. Kratom has saved my life from depression, but how the heck does one know of there is gluten in kratom? It must be, being a plant? Or maybe not? Any thoughts? They are testing me for everything from my chronic anemia followed by unexplained hives. I hate to give up kratom that helps me for a strict diet that will aggravate my depression 😉
Thanks

Have a wee bit better day!

I have met with a doctor who tells all his patients to avoid gluten, which is in Wheat, Rye flour, Barley, and Oats. He would have told me if it was in anything else, so I see no reason why it would be in kratom.
Gluten is a protein in grains. Kratom is not a grain, it is a leaf.
Do an elimination diet, to find what is causing your hives. I have never heard of anyone with a kratom allergy. It may be possible, but it would not be because of gluten.
Hope this helps!

😉

I found a valid resource in a yahoo search. This is invaluable feedback as I hone in on my symptoms. Thank goodness. Kratom has been a tremendous help! So glad I can take it off the checklist. My ice cream habit may be doomed - until I finish tests and learn the new lifestyle. I already gave up drinking, opiates, switched from real cigs to ecigs. They are next on the chopping block. Too pricey, thank you for taking the time to reply. Good reminder! Ni meant to get back on here to share my findings. What a relief!

Have a wee bit better day!

If a person is highly sensitive to gluten, like myself (I was diagnosed with celiac disease at a young age), then cross-contamination in kratom could be an issue. While kratom is certainly gluten-free in it's natural state, trace amounts of gluten could theoretically be introduced during harvesting/processing/packaging. I personally always check with vendors to verify that there's no cross-contamination risk before purchase, because for a person with celiac disease, even the slightest amount of gluten can cause serious, lasting damage, even if there are no noticeable symptoms upon ingestion.
