Hello from Oklahoma
Wow... what a great place to learn about a truly amazing plant.
I'm one of the unfortunate one to suffer from chronic pain. I have 3 herniated disk with pinched nerves in my lower back and as an added bonus a couple more in my neck...I wouldn't wish sciatica on my worst enemy...well maybe my worst
I've been prescribed hydrocodone for roughly 10 years now and morphine to go along with it for the past year. I'm hoping to stop using both or at least only use them only as a break through medicine instead of 4 times a day.
Not looking foreword to going cold turkey, I did a internet search for help and found Kratom. All I can say is Wow. I've never heard of this before. I've been reading and learning for a week now and think I've gotten myself more confused than I thought possible. So many different varieties, ways of ingesting, recipes, leaf or capsules or extracts...
I would truly appreciate any advice and help you can offer. I know this will not be easy and what works for one person may not work for another. I have ordered some but after learning more I now think a different variety may have been a better choice.
Thank you for any and all help.
Welcome to the forums, while it looks small, it is new and growing. I am curious. Why do people keep saying their trying to quit taking their opiate prescription medication? My father in law takes morphine, but he doesn't hate it, as far as I know, he likes it. I've heard some people claim that it feels like it's taking away their soul or something.

I can only speak from my own experience with the opiates but there are several reasons I would like to stop using them. Yes they do help with the pain.
I work and my company does not allow you to work while on narcotics. I didn't know this until a few weeks ago although I've been there going on 8 years.
I commute 70 miles round trip and work a rotating 12 hour shift. The morphine makes me sleepy so I have to really watch when I take it. I have discussed this with my doctor who doesn't seem to understand and wants to take away the hydros and have me take even more morphine.
I don't expect to completely stop using them but would like to try and use only half as much or even less. The reason for taking them will always be there whether I take them or not so I'm looking for an alternative.
I don't have any moral objections to using them and think they are great for pain. However, in todays society there's a stigma associated with their use. I don't like to wish bad luck on anyone but I'm willing to bet that if more of our lawmakers suffered from chronic pain it would be easier for doctors to prescribe them and for people to get the help they need. I live in a rural area and travel 90 miles one way to see my pain doctor. I also take injections in my spine and no local clinics offer this. To get my medicine, I have to drive to the doctors office every month to pick up the scripts even if I have no procedure that month or not. No refills on these prescriptions like most medicines. You have to have a new script each month. My work schedule allows me to do this but I don't see how most people can.
There are more reasons but this is what comes to mind at 3am...like my mind works this early...lol
It's 2 Am here my mind is broken too.

Welcome >:D
My advise is that powder is usually cheaper than caps, and you can save money by buying in bulk. You may need to experiment with a few different strains to find what works best for you. Please feel free to ask any questions as you find your way with kratom 🙂
Thanks for the welcome everybody.
I've gotten some green vein Maeng Da and several different samples to try.
All I and my girlfriend can say is this stuff is amazing. I've been able to cut the pain meds in half and most of the time a lot less than that. Plus I feel like a human again. Its hard to describe how much better I feel not being half stoned on the opiates. Its actually been years since I felt like actually doing something besides eating another pain pill.
I've tried the toss and wash method, you guys are tougher than I am..lol. So I ordered a capsule machine and I'm going this route. I just cannot believe how good this works.
Once again, Thanks for the warm welcome and especially thanks for the tips and advice.
