Kratom/Major Depression, fatigue, anxiety and pain!
Hello to everyone!
I am new to Kratom. I heard about it on Cannabis Health Radio a few weeks ago. After being basically bedridden with depression ect I was desperate to try anything. (I have been on pharma drugs for many years. I was noticing a real decline in my memory and cognition. I am only 50. CBD helped me alot but at $2.00 a capsule is very expensive). So, I went to a headshop just to see if Kratom would help and it did. Then I started shopping for a better deal online. I paid $21.00 for 20grams at the headshop. I found it online for $9.99 for 25grams. I took 1sp of green maeng da and about 40 mins later the bone crushing depression was lifted off of me.I felt like it coated my frayed nervs. I couldn't believe it. Nothing I have ever tried worked that fast and that effective. I am hoping that over time I will be able to stop the pharma drugs and just take Kramtom.(I have been able to do a deep cleaning on my house, excerise and go shopping (I usually hate shopping). OMG! even the Mall! lol. Hey, I might even be able to hold down a job.
(I have to say I was scared because some searches about Kratom say it's addictive. Well, so is the pharma stuff I'm on and with bad side effects long term. So, I said to myself, well, I'm willing to take the chance because suffering sucks too. So, if anyone can relate, say Hello, it would be awesome.
Hi Patricia, prepare to be inundated with various "me too's", even tho non sufferers ALSO say, "my back hurts, too" and, "I'm tired, too" with no clue what you're going through.
There are a few here who've made the switch. But. Kratom is NOT as easy to predict, like with pills. Everyone responds differently, and some strains will help you but not others, and visa versa. A lot of sampling and patience are required, and you can never rely on just one strain by just one vendor (see the blog portion of the forum for good editorial guidance for learning the ropes). The other thing to consider is cost. Kratom is not "sold for consumption" and it's also not covered by insurance like pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the government is making Kratom ordering more challenging by not allowing many kratom vendors to process orders with credit cards, so be prepared to learn about alternate payment challenges - this is fairly new and not ALL vendors have been refused credit card processing YET. There is a lot of good info posted on Bitcoin, as well as many reviews on vendors on the ILOVEKRATOM approved vendor list AS WELL AS reviews of vendors not on the list. If you'd like assistance, just holler. It's a big family here, someone will be able to help you get started on ordering from proper vendors versus the products sold in head shops (tho it sounds like you are near one of the better head shops).
Enjoy the new experience! Definitely catch some posts about trying to change the world by sharing the wonders of kratom. Not everyone will be as excited as you are (and I still am, 3 plus years later). Welcome!
Have a wee bit better day!
Thank you Laurie, yes, I've done a lot of research and read the pros and cons. I am in Canada, so for now it's easy to order on-line (not a headshop) and pay with e-transfer. I paid $43.00 for 100grams(including shipping from Van to Kelowna). The quality is good. I am wondering if that is a fair price. (please let me know if it is or isn't) I don't mind paying for something that actually works. I've learned about alternating the strains and about mixing strains. I am keeping a journal. 🙂
Hi Patricia AND Douglas168!
I'm not good at determining prices. I overpay and underearn, so hopefully others will pipe in on prices. Sometimes I get good deals, other times I've paid double by math not being my strong suit. Still. Kelowna sounds like a town inwent through in British Columbia on the way to Alaska one year. Can it be the same? I thought British Columbia is not Canada, so probably not.
Let us know how life is going as you make the change. Every story is different, and every story TOLD includes lessons along the way through help on this forum, so please share what you are comfortable with. I think we women folk here are generally on our 50's and 60's with pain issues, so you found the right crowd to hang out with - haha. The men dominate, and their knowledge has made me smarter than I was yesterday 🙂
Have a wee bit better day!
Hi Patricia. I'm glad you're here. I'm new, too. I use kratom for pain, but I have noticed mood-lifting effects. Everyone is different, and many vendors' product are different, but I'll mention that I felt a sense of wellbeing, cheerfulness, and sociability from an Indonesian Green strain.
As for cost, I think getting a good quality product from a reputable vendor is cost-effective, because you'll get a good reaction from a small quantity. You'll often see a sliding scale based on quantity, with quality vendors charging something like $30 for 100 grams and $75 for 500 grams. Some of them will split your order for you, so you can buy 500 grams as 50 grams each of 10 strains, or 100 grams each of 5 strains.
I think there's more chance of addiction if you're chasing better and better effects. I think if you use it responsibly, and take care to rotate your strains throughout the week, you won't get much trouble with tolerance, at least not for several weeks or months. I think cautions about physical addiction of kratom (such as what you'd get from heroin or something) is a scare tactic, and not a real thing, but I do think you can raise your tolerance and therefore have to either take more of it or take a break from it for a while.
I hope you continue to find relief from depression. This is a friendly group, and I believe many people will step up to help with any questions you have.
Well stated. I can attest to kratom being primarily the most effective treatment for my depression. It ALSO helped after I quit using opiates (they lifted my depression at first as well). Depression, fibromyalgia pain, emotional pain and sciatica are why I continue to benefit from Kratom (in addition to stretching, exercise, physical therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and support groups). I haven't felt the "honeymoon high" from Kratom in over 3 years, so I'm definitely physically dependent. However, I was physically dependent to various antidepressants that didn't help, opiates that didn't help without needing more, more MORE, and my life is now quite full of constructive activities I never dreamed were options for me. Which made my depression worse. If I have to quit kratom, I will undoubtedly suffer from withdrawals, depression and irrational thoughts that could be fatal. I've been there most of my life, so I know the depth of that and it's rather endless. But I don't CRAVE kratom and count the hours until I can dose again. I don't count my stash to see how long I'll make it before I need to reorder against the advice of my checkbook. I don't LIVE to gag powder down. I gag powder down to live.
Your post said it well, dragonteller. It's been a while since I posted my reasons for being a kratom advocate, and there are so many new members, thought I'd post an update on my purpose for wishing to keep kratom legal. Without kratom, I would be unable to advocate for kratom. If that makes sense. LOL wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Have a wee bit better day!
I found kratom in my search for a remedy for migraines but I was also suffering from several months of depression and when I took my first dose I was blown away. My depression was gone immediately. I was so excited I totally forgot about why I tried kratom in the first place! I'm coming up on a year since trying kratom for the first time and it's still working.
In the last few weeks I have also tried micro-dosing psychedelics as an aid for depression and I can tell you, that also has been working VERY well. I dose once every 2-3 days and now I'm only taking kratom once a day. There have been days where I didn't even use any kratom! I few weeks back I found out you can buy substances like LSD and Psilocin (active ingredient in magic mushrooms) from vendors selling "research chemicals" which are of course, not for human consumption. I'm currently taking 4-ho-mipt, which is an analog of psilocin. Micro-dosing is where you take a tiny amount of what would be a normal dose. If you are going to try this route, I suggest you do like I did and research for a few weeks/months before taking this route. There is lots of info out there.
By the way, welcome to the forum! Check out Re-Leaf LLC, they have some really good kratom and really good prices!
Thank you dragonteller! Good advice. Everyday is better and better. I cut back on my doses of K as I am also taking CBD powder and a supplement called MAXGXL (glutathione accelerator). It's a MLM but I am just a customer. Worked great for me years ago so have the funds again to buy it. A little pricey but good stuff. K is awesome too! God Bless!
Cool tips on other supps! Didn't know CBD comes in powder, but I guess I never gave it much thought - duh! Can I ask what the glutathione accelerator helps with? I'm always needing acceleration. LOL Not to butt in.
Have a wee bit better day!
