Whats up everyone? Hope everyone is having a great weekend !
So some of us are in a 12 step program either AA or NA . I have no problem breaking my anonymity and have dealt with a lot of issues at some AA meetings. I've been clean and sober for many many years
And attend AA meetings on a regular basis
The issues! Im also a kratom vendor and i own a company called reddevilkratom.com
So in some AA meetings people have been going around calling me a drug dealer. Telling me im not sober is i take kratom. As we all know there's a lot of judgmental people and some 12-step programs and the ones who judge are the ones who actually doing grimy stuff outside the rooms and inside the rooms.
The way i look at things is.
1 is your life unmanageable from kratom?
2 are you powerless over kratom ?
If you answer no to both those question then Kratom is not a problem. Most of us drink coffee all day long! And that's a mind-altering substance. Some of us smoke and thats also a mind altering substance.
So if you are in a 12 step program and have dealt with some or these issues tell them to f off 🙂 if you had any issues like this please share your story!
Im john dee from reddevilkratom.com!

The thing is that there are a lot of people who don't understand Kratom & think it is a drug that teens get high off of like bath salts because of the dumbass DEA! They have been taking Kratom in Indonesia for thousands of years & no one has ever heard of anybody dying ever from Kratom overdoses. Kratom is the most perfect herb you could ever find. One thing it Doesn't do is get you high like Opiates & Kratom has so many Health Benefits which Opiates do not. 🙂

I'm sorry John that you have to deal with that kind of Crap in that Program. It's very hard to Ignore. If they could just understand what Kratom actually is & how it is helping people. All is I can say is just to Focus on your Sobriety & just Ignore them Judgmental Idiots. It's them damn Headshops & the DEA that has given Kratom a bad name. They sell it as a Legal High which it is not. Hang in there & just remember that they are Ignorant about Kratom. 😕

So true.
I have heard this from a few people.
Replacing one for another.
That would be true if it were Jack Daniels to absolute.
I drank for many years myself and understand the way it can get out of hand.
I'll never have a drink or a pill ever again.
Fyi.

Exactly Kratom is my choice it doesn't rule me. Consistently I will go 24-48 hours without Kratom for the only reason to give my body a rest. Granted these are days that I am not working however, if I did not take Kratom I would be on disability like I was for a few years. I made the choice to remove myself from disability since I was driving myself and my wife insane. What can I say I love to work it was something that was instilled me as a young child. I remember being told whatever I wanted in life I needed to work for. Nothing was handed to me or given to me. I am thankful for that. Anyway do not give in to those people who have labeled you a "Drug" dealer. Just keep calm and Kratom on.

Red Devil,
This makes me very sad. It's destructive behavior. I realize that each group is autonomous & self-regulated with their own rules; but what happened to good meeting practices like accepting everyone, no judgments, no criticism? I hope they realize that they need to make amends to you; and eliminate practices that hurt their members. Then I hope you can find a more supportive group in your area. Take care, and keep going!

I hear you about hypocrisy in the rooms. I’m seeing both Fellowships on the side. Neither of which have been open minded yet, even tho open-mindedness is in the tradition of NA! I don’t get how people using norcos day and night like candy attend meetings and BENEFIT in some way (?!) but that’s not for me to decide. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been thrown a cheap shot of naïveté in your fellowship. They supply coffee AND cookies AND donuts, all of which meet SERIOUS urges and overdoses are common (see obesity epidemic). Personally, I stay out of the poison they serve and I keep my kratom use to myself. The Fellowships also frown upon using marijuana for medical purposes as well. They are simply stuck in the 1940’s when the books were being written. They will wake up to the benefits of kratom, but I doubt I’ll still be alive to attend a meeting by then. Politics and judgement are alive and well in the rooms. NOT attractive (attraction not promotion).

Have a wee bit better day!

Doesn't sound like much of a support group.

That's all I got ta say about that.

In a few months I'll be 5 years sober.

Alcohol was my primary problem. I haven't had a drink since 2013.

Because of a medical condition I was prescribed Oxycodone over a year ago. I didn't go down the wormhole with it, but I also didn't like taking it every day, and decided to alternate with kratom.

So far it's working well. Kratom has been a bit problematic because of the cost. My other half is also in the program and doesn't know I'm taking it. So I don't have time to mess with powders and teas and such.Capsules get expensive fast.

So I'm going to start tapering off of it after the new year. I do take it every day. I DON'T think it's messed up my program or my sobriety. I am five. years. sober. And that's it.

if I end up at a bar that's a different story.

i left AA a long time ago because of jerky people. Don't let em get you down. My sponsor dropped me because I couldn't attend meetings as much because I have a special needs child. SORRY, my child comes first.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience too. It seems to be the norm. People get sober and are just as cliquey and judgmental as they were before 🙁

Just for giggles, I agree: you. are. 5. Years. Sober. Congratulations!! I’m in the programs actively and you can get clean with them or without them. I like the support. It’s no easy road, to hoe - staying clean. With or without kratom!
Good for you! I’m sure you’ll be relieved to find very little physical dependence and very real rejoicing with the monkey off your back about your kratom use. Even tho it does NOT mean you’re using again!

If that makes sense. There’s a real CONGRATULATIONS in there somewhere...

Have a wee bit better day!

The NA/AA Meetings do have Value & help many People but are not for everybody. I think they need to Develop a few different Programs for each Individual Person. The 12 Step Program can't be a one size fits all. I think they need to rethink that & come up with a few other programs. Some Outpatient Programs are just out there to make money & some are out there to really help people. Finding the ones that really want to truly help people can't be difficult because money rules people Because every time you Relapse then that means more money for the Outpatient Programs when you go back.

So finding the ones that really want to help you stay clean can be hard. Just my opinion. You know it's a Business just like anything else. If there was no money in it & they would Volunteer then they would really be there to help you stay clean but everything is a Business nowadays. I've been to 3 Outpatient Programs & that's what I've got out of those 3 Programs. It wasn't until I found Kratom until I actually really stayed clean.
