Effects of a Rhodiola rosea L. extract on acquisition and expression of morphine tolerance and dependence in mice

I just noticed the link to that article when I was providing the one to the article about Ginger extract to someone on Reddit.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20142299/
This study investigated the effect of Rhodiola rosea L. extract on acquisition and expression of morphine tolerance and dependence in mice. Therefore animals were injected with repeated administration of morphine (10 mg/kg, subcutaneous) twice daily for five or six days, in order to make them tolerant or dependent. Rhodiola rosea L. extract (0, 10, 15 and 20 mg/kg) was administered by the intragastric route 60 min prior to each morphine injection (for acquisition) or prior the last injection of morphine or naloxone on test day (for tolerance or dependence expression, respectively). Morphine tolerance was evaluated by testing its analgesic effect in the tail flick test at the 1st and 5th days. Morphine dependence was evaluated by counting the number of withdrawal signs (jumping, rearing, forepaw tremor, teeth chatter) after naloxone injection (5 mg/kg; intraperitoneal) on the test day (day 6). Results showed that Rhodiola rosea L. extract significantly reduced the expression of morphine tolerance, while it was ineffective in modulating its acquisition. Conversely, Rhodiola rosea L. extract significantly and dose-dependently attenuated both development and expression of morphine dependence after chronic or acute administration. These data suggest that Rhodiola rosea L. may have human therapeutic potential for treatment of opioid addiction.

Interesting. This is right in line with a tolerance reset recipe I got from an Anonymous tipster at Kratom👁 recently. I will try to attach it here…
Here it is! Happy Birthday! lol lol
“Below are some details regarding the following herbs (this is based on scientific data as well as anecdotal experiences, supported by several people who reported the same positive results). Please be aware that it may not work for everyone and it definitely won't work if it's not done exactly how it's laid out below (this is years of experimentation here).
This is a good 'once a week' flush to get the most out of your greens/reds (it also makes whites more effective after as well as coffee and even adderall or opiates! These are powerful herbs).
Ashwagandha + Rhodiola: this helps reset or drastically reduce tolerance to greens & reds in circa 24 hrs (as long as you stick to the rules below).
Consume 0.60 gm to 0.75 gm of our Ashwaghandha extract and make a note of the time (it will be around this time 24 hours later that it's work has been completed).
- I usually take the Ash at around 5 pm so I sleep off most of the effects.
during the next 24 hrs, make sure you don't use any red or green kratom more than 3-4 times and no more than 2.5 - 3 gm at a time (the less used the better the cleanse works). A good trick is to use only white veins during this period as it does not conflict with the reset as greens and reds do (which wastes the entire effort). The Ashwagandha reduces the effects of greens/reds which is another lesser reason to wait the full 24 hrs.
After 5 - 8 hours into the Ashwagandha cleanse, consume 0.50 gm of Rhodiola extract. This will super-charge the cleansing effect of the Ashwagandha, it's an important part of the process.
- I usually take the Rhodiola in the morning after taking the Ash. the Rhodiola itself takes circa 8 hrs to do it's cleansing business. During this time, greens and reds will not work or be diminished by 70% or more (another reason to not use them during the full 24 hrs).
Sometimes the 24 hrs is more like 36 hrs depending on body chemistry (I don't know why exactly but I've only experienced this about 15% of the time).
These are both 'adaptogenic' herbs so they reset your system and reduce stress - you may be a bit tired during the process, but it's worth a speedy tolerance cleanse that lasts for days, usually. The Rhodiola is actually a bit stimulating so it's best not to take it too late at night if you're sensitive to stimulants.
Chinese Cat's Claw:
This is an herb that also helps reduce tolerance, you can take it with the Ash-Rho bundle as stated above weekly or bi-monthly or 'as needed'.
The amount to use is between 0.25 gm to 0.50 gm per session.
As usual, if you have any health issues that may be exacerbated by consuming herbs - it's best to look into the side effects of these herbs prior to using and not mixing them with prescription meds unless you know it's a safe combo (research it”, consult a dr, this is absolutely NOT medical advice and NO GUARANTEED results, like ANY OTHER recipe - I can make a mess of a 3 ingredient dish at dinner time)
Have a wee bit better day!

Both Cat's Claw and Hirsuta have lots of Mitraphylline, though they both have additional alkaloids as well.
I used to regularly take Ashwagandha, but I cycled off it and forgot to bring it back in. Thanks for the reminder about it!
I'm looking into the Sensoril variety, I took the other kind (KSM-66) before. Sensoril might be mellower? Ooh, I found a deal at Amazon, 50% off the second bottle, Doctor's Best Ashwagandha with Sensoril, so I went with that. Discount got applied at checkout.

That’s funny because I said the same thing, “oh yeah! Ashwagandha! I have 250 g lying around here somewhere!” And I honestly had forgotten about the rhodiola capsules madmax sent me in 2018 or 2019. Still bagged as good as new!
The recipe is presented in hopes of visiting the Kratom Eye vendor who now carries these supplements, so I thought I’d throw that out there - even tho I prefer to remain unbiased. They have excellent kratom, too! 😀
Have a wee bit better day!
