New to kratom, would love any extra thoughts am advice.
So i am completely new to kratom. Found it through researching alternatives for anxiety. Scoured over forums for a couple weeks and have learned enough that i believe it may help. So last friday i placed an order with quickkratom. I wrote them an email right after ordering letting them know i was new to this and any advice they could offer about what would be good for anxiety possible a sample of another strain, i ordered a small quantity of the primo bali. They never replied to my email, so the customer service is lacking. Shipping is fine ordered friday arrived today. I will be posting my experience with time frame. Hoping it relaxes my nerves and calms my anxiety wich is pretty much constant. I have been told to start with 2 1/2 teaspoons. Toss and wash. I havent eaten since noon, so its will be 9 hrs since last meal. That should be fine right? And drinking plenty of water. I will post again later. So any advice or thoughts will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

so following up last night, i tried 2 teaspoons tosh and wash method of the primo bali (yuck) after about 40 min i started just kinda feeling mellow, very quite..kinda mildy sedated. My normal back pain went away, but thats not why i took it. I wouldnt say it was a "good" feeling. About an hour and a half later i got super sick. Felt better after puking. Went to bed, woke up pretty groggy amd blah. Sooo question is...was two tsp too much? I didnt eat for about 9 hrs prior, could have that contributed? So wondering if it was just too much or not a very good batch? They sent a sample of red vein Thai also. Idk i dont want to get sick again and i dont think i like what i would call a "grumpy mellow" lol im going for a happy mellow stress and anxiety free feeling. Any advice?
It was likely to much. Most people say 3-5 grams to start. What is known is that teaspoon isn't a good way to measure. Kratom is measured in grams so using a teaspoon isn't a true measure. If you puked you took to much. Try less.
I am so sorry that you had a bad experience! A lot of these guys who have been taking k for quite a while can take large amounts and be just fine, but for starting out I would say you should start low to find your dose. It was just too much for a first time. I would suggest that you cut it in half. Product varies in potency from vender to vender, and from batch to batch, so it's hard to really say an exact dose so I suggest starting low and bump it up little by little until you find your desired effect. I hope that helps.
Your first post said 2 half teaspoons. Not 2 teaspoons. At least how I read it. Definitely cut your dose a LOT to start for a better experience. Don't fret, I did that, also. 🙂
You might also try making a tea at first, versus toss n wash at first. Much more subtle. In my experience. Keep us posted?

It was meant to say 2 and 1/2 tsp. I had knocked it back to 2 tsp, which apparently was still way to much lol. im defiantly going to look for a good tea recipe. toss and wash is not for me. I was also recommended to use orange juice and a blender bottle which I bought today. I will try this out tomorrow with the sample of RVT I have. Thanks for the reply!

I think the AMOUNT was the biggest issue, rather than technique. Definitely try a much tinier amount, regardless of technique. Wait 45 minutes, add a tiny bit if needed.
Unfortunately, being the nature of how this plant works, it's necessary to really pay attention (make a log if you can) at first. In my experience, a log with date, time, amount, what strain from what vendor (if you have more than one on hand) was very helpful to return back to later to truly know what worked well, and what didn't. This won't be necessary for all time! Just as you and your body get acclimated with burning kratom in the beginning phase.

Like Laurie said, logging is a great tool to figure out what works. Truly, you should cut amount in half and bump it up if you need to. Less is often more with plant. Really, what Laurie said is great advise.
One last thing. Where did you read about orange juice? I am not sure that is an ideal choice. (Like you said, no two people have the same recommendation). I will see if I can find a reference regarding the orange juice.

I think I found the website you found for making smoothies. This is for experienced users and the orange juice is a potentiator, meaning it is not a good idea until you are more acclimated.
Please do more forum research on this website for beginners. Less website browsing outside this forum. You will find more suitable suggestions to start your morning.

Thank you for all the advice! Keep it coming lol first off i actually started a log last night with all the details from my first experience with bali monday night. As far as the orange juice goes it was just a reccomendation on how to get it down easier from a burner on this forum. Also im going to probabley wait awhile to burn in the mornin, seeing as though i have no idea how a strain is going to effect my day lol so the trial with the RVT will be this evening after work. Id also like to get in an order today sometime for a moderate strain with good mood enhancement and a slight energy increase, something i can def function on but wont agitate my anxiety. I am lost on this though...just some many diff kinds and soo many diff opinions and money is tight. So ita not like i can fork out the cost to order several strains lol also i will be cutting that dose back to 2 grams, or shpuld i go less? Thanks again for the replies!
No doubt orange juice is a good recommendation for getting it down, but given your first experiences, it would not be the first choice for getting started. Now that you have a better starting dose, even OJ might be fine.
So glad you are sticking with it and not throwing in the towel. OJ upsets my belly, tho I love the flavor. So I was only recommending a less acidic alternative to avoid your last experiences (which was a measurement issue). Enjoy!

Maybe try a green vein. I find it to be an overall good strain that most say is a good vein to get both benefits of the red and white. I get pain relief, I'm less anxious and have focused energy. The red Thai I have tried even though I feared sedation. I didn't get sedated but out of fear I took only a small amount. I now blend some green and white for my daily use.
Update for my second experience. So i tried the RVT yesterday evening. Burned 1 tsp with oj. Definitely easier to get down. Nice mellow feeling with noticeable pain relief. MUCH better experience the 2nd time around. Def happy with this strain.i will go back to the bali at some point and try a lower dose. Up next will be yellow sundra and plantation MD when it arrives next week. Probabley borneo and green Malay after that. Thoughts on mixing strains?
