Just found out that the DEA is going to put Kratom as a Schedule I narcotic. There's a petition out that needs 100,000 signatures for this not to pass. Please sign this! If you're like me, Kratom has helped my life tremendously and to take that away would be very bad for me.

Here's the link to the petition

I've been enjoying Kratom powder for almost 19 years now. I am a strong advocate for this plant & a Kratom vendor. I am thankful for the opportunities this plant has given me to help others who are struggling through the same things I once did.

Does getting 100,00 signatures really make it remain legal, and get it off the ban list?

Unfortunately no, but we can have a voice. I agree with this other commentor, we are costing pharmaceutical companies large amounts of money, they just want a piece of the pie.

There was a good article today in forbes.com that talked about it...iM traveling now, but I'll find the link.

Also, Sept 30th is the day when Kratom becomes illegal...oh well, I guess I'll have to figure something out (wink wink)

Does this mean that all Vendors of Kratom will not sell Kratom anymore? I guess I will have to find something else. Won't be easy. That really pisses me off about the DEA. They have no idea about Kratom. Kratom is a very complex all natural herb. It is in the Coffee Family. I just don't understand it. Why don't they go after real drugs. I guess all of the Thousands that Kratom has helped will go back to getting addicted to Real Narcotics. All of the former Addicts that Kratom helped get off of drugs will go back to their drug of choice. The DEA is making things so much worse. They should just ban Coffee while they are at it.

Kratom's cousins Mitragyna Javanica and Mitragyna Hirsuta may be the best alternative to kratom.

Yeah I know but they are a lot less potent & Speciosa is mild already. I wander how much people would have to take of them 2 plants to equal a good dose of Plain Leaf Kratom. I've heard that both of them don't last as long or have the anxiety or pain relief effects that Speciosa has but it looks like it's the best alternative so far. I've read that they are rare plants so they will be more expensive. I've seen them go for around 80 cents per gram. It takes around 20 - 30 grams per dose in a Tea. So I couldn't afford to do that. I can only afford the cheapest possible Herb.

I would like so say Thank You to all of you that helped me with how to use kratom to stop opiate abuse, and thank god i found it before this ban, it saved my life, and hopefully i can stay doing good even after the ban if there is one and continue to stay drug free. I feel very sad for all of those still suffering that may not get the opportunity that i did to be able to quit with the help of kratom. I know several people that i had told about how i quit that will now not get the chance to try to quit like this if there is a ban. suboxone and methadone have been proven over and over again to not be very useful in stopping and are in fact just as bad as the drugs they are trying to quit, Kratom was not that way and it is a shame they are taking it away.

I'm not sure if people will quit selling it or not...you know how this stuff goes. I'll be talking to a very smart guy about this today.

There will be alternatives of course, but nothing like Bali (what I use).

Kratom took me away from drugs and I will not stop using it.

This is very sad news for me and many others.
I signed petition of course.
Looks like my order will be a large one ..thank goodness for credit. This may explain why I have been finding so many of my favorite vendors out of my favorite picks.

UPDATE: The American Kratom Association will be going to court against the DEA to try to stop this stupid law from passing.
Here's some facts about this whole story

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/dea-kratom-schedule-i_us_57c5c263e4b0cdfc5ac98b83

And this was when the FDA tried to ban Kratom a few months back and failed. The AKA stopped them as well. If you're up to it, send some donations to the American Kratom Association because they will be representing us in this war

I think i will make a donation instead of stocking up, I cannot let this law pass, this last time i quit opiates with kratom, i had even called a opiate abuse help hotline, and in my area there were no other options of quitting except for Na meetings and just a detox center that i couldnt afford, so i couldnt have even tried suboxone treatment if i had wanted, (which i wont do). Using kratom as opiate addiction treatment was the only method i could afford and that was available in my area. On top off the fact that it is the safest, and doesnt just make u get addicted to something else like methadone and suboxone does. I can go several days without taking kratom without all the negative side effects that suboxone and methdone give you. There are still soo many people out there that could use this herb to get their lives back.It just isnt fair to deny people this alternative treatment. I have tried them all and Kratom has actually worked for me, when all the other treatments out there have failed.

I agree with you. And I understand where you're coming from when you say this helped you off opiates. It did me as well. I, for one, am stocking up and making a hefty contribution to the AKA.

These Kratom vendors should also be contacted (whoever your vendor is please let them know this) to send a contribution to the AKA as well. This not only affects us and our lifestyle but their business as well.

It's all a money racket. They want to keep this stuff regulated. There is such a big market for Kratom users and the government isn't getting any of it except from honest Kratom vendors who pay their taxes ever year like a few of my friends.

Please sign the petition, it's over 16k signatures now and needs 100k

All we can do is start blasting this out to social media with the petition link and getting people informed on Kratom.

Most of the people I know have no idea what Kratom is, and I think that's what the DEA is counting on. If they list it as a bad thing, where people don't understand, they will believe them.

It's up to us to educate people what this is. Start telling others how Kratom has helped you, get them educated, tell your story! I know I have personally told my story as to how Kratom helped me get off hard narcotics and some friends have followed suit.

It has changed many lives, and people who don't understand it, will think it is bad. When it really isn't, but I don't need to tell you guys this.

What the DEA is doing is comparing Kratom alkaloids to narcotic opioids, which is basically apples and oranges. All they have to do is compare it to something like heroin and people will think its awful.

Educate. Inform. Share.

I have added a template in which we can copy and paste from what I've written, just change your message to be specific for the attorney general. Here you go.

Message the attorney general link (make sure the topic says: Message to the attorney general in the drop down box) http://www.justice.gov/doj/webform/your-message-department-justice

TEMPLATE

Dear Mrs Lynch,
My name is Wade Harman from Richlands, Va. I am writing you today on behalf of an action of the DEA against an herb called Kratom.

The DEA will list Kratom as a schedule I narcotic as of September 30th, 2016.

I beg that this law not be passed.

I am a law abiding citizen, but I must protest this action.

13 years ago I was a drug addict. For me to have a normal feeling I had to indulge in massive amounts of narcotics every day. My sister Jennifer, introduced me to an herb called Kratom and it changed my life. I can now say I am 13 years sober because of this herbal tea and I continue to take it daily for aches, pains, and anxiety.

The DEA is listing this as a schedule I narcotic saying it has opioid properties. There are no opiates in Kratom, but alkaloids. It has a mild effect on the brain, one of which could be represented as opiate-like because it does bind to the opiate receptors in the brain.

This herb has changed many people's lives and I challenge you to take a closer look at this legislation because you will be crushing a lot of people and changing their quality of life, including my own.

Thank you for your consideration of reading my letter, and I hope you will research the facts before this is passed into law.

Sincerely,
Wade Harman

Well to encourage you, the dea is placing a "temporary" ban on kratom. But I think that's just another way to get their foot in the door for the real thing.

However, you should take solice in knowing that the FDA tried this a while back and the American kratom association stopped them.

This isn't just a loss for the Kratom community, for the hundreds and thousands of innocent individuals who have used it to assist their daily lives, this is a loss that every American citizen should pay attention to. What is next... you aren't allowed to listen to music while exercising?

We all know the true reasons behind this "ban", it's simple math... the government, and all it's lobbyists for the medical/pharmaceutical industry see $$$ signs not floating their way, in fact they've probably taken a small dent themselves, whether at private practices, rehab facilities, where or whomever it may be... and they just happened to know the right people in the right place to protect their own investments and businesses.

I am really upset, Kratom helped me a great deal, it helped me come off of years of harsh pharmaceutical meds, I am not even an every day kratom-taker. I have used kratom to help assist myself with pain from injuries playing sports growing up, it even assisted with my anxiety, it can do things both OTC and prescription meds can and can't do... but no matter what it does, whether it does help or does absolutely nothing, we all know someone was losing money, or someone got very jealous that these kratom vendors were making money and they were not... typical greed at it's best.

I hope we can learn more about this, I hope it can be overturned, this is a sad day for our great nation.....

I'm not sure what the temporary ban will be. But regardless of that timeline, if it goes thru, it will be illegal on Sept 30, the end of this month.
