Yellow Strains
Ok, so I'm off work, divorced, and have too much time on my hands! I already did this for green Malaysian.....so how bout yellows? What do you guys think about them? I personally haven't found one I like except for Sleepy Hippo,.which I believe is a Sumatra or indo. So anyone find a great one?
I have only tried a few yellows. Yellow Horn from Ohio Botanicals- Not much from this strain on its own. Does blend well with other strains. Yellow MD- It was from this Psychologist that use to be a kratom vendor but she stopped selling kratom during the ban scare last year. It was more on the energetic side. Yellow Gold from LFK. Another uplifting strain with decent pain relief. Yellow Vietnam from COB. Perhaps my favorite yellow. It gives me a relaxed energy. A good strain for either working out or talking to customers or patients.
I love a good yellow/red mix any early day! But I wonder about the gas issue. I'll have to test that out as a precautionary measure! LOL NO kidding! LOL
Have a wee bit better day!
Bomalley I agree. I just double checked and the sleepy hippo is a Sumatra. Great strain, the only yellow like. Didn't notice the gassy part though. I'm gonna go take some yellow md and check....Ill let y'all know if it's gassy lol.
I wonder if the Yellow Sumatra (Sleepy Hippo) from Happy Hippo is dried with Cat's claw tea. I know Joe mentioned if a yellow strain is relaxing, chances are that it is dried with cat's claw. Or one vendor said that yellow's are dried white strains with reds. That could be the case with happy hippo. On paper it would seem that yellow strains would be just under whites in terms of uplifting or energetic qualities.
I love the yellow strains MIXED with red and/or greens. My metabolism gets a nice bit of energizing-less edgy than a white.
I am not as particular with regard to Country of Origin in the name. For the most part, greens are green benefits, reds are red benefits, etc. For whatever reason, the Country of Origin or other names given to strains don't make a huge difference for me. Color of leaf (on label, not the powder itself), and size of burn is more of a factor about specific results I'm seeking to achieve (and mostly accomplishing) as opposed to Kapuas versus Sumatra (for example).
I currently am enjoying some Yellow Bali from Britta of Hawksbill Botanicals, a yellow Maeng Da from Dwi (KratomAsia) and I'm out of a tiny bit of yellow something mixed with red (house blend mix) from Joe at Re-Leaf LLC (Joe labeled mine with MY NAME: custom labeling is a fun touch!)
As was mentioned by Gmantheman, yellows are great for mixing ("plays well with others" lol)
I have never had a sedating burn with yellows. I have my own cat's claw to mix it with, but the point of enjoying a yellow is generally NOT A NAP for me, anyway.
Have a wee bit better day!
Gas update, please, Tossnwash?! LOL

Yes, that's why I have it lying around here. I tried a LOT of supps for my sciatica, including self-help books. Tried most every possible thing except hypnotism.

Hey Laurie......Yeah Bomallies right! I've been crop dusting the whole store at work!
Gmantheman, you're probably right about the cats claw in the sleepy hippo. It's the only yellow I really get a good effect from. It's not a subtle effect either it's a.....well very sleepy strain. At least for me anyway. I know their happy horned hippo, which is supposed to be their "ultimate" slow strain didn't do anything. I should have listened to Menthols review, he was right!
Nobody wants unknowns in their powder, PERIOD. Disclosure! Seems like we ALL can buy a BLEND if we want a BLEND.
Have a wee bit better day!
I need to learn more about yellows.
I've only tried a few--- Yellow Horn, Yellow MD, and a couple of vendor blends that contain it.
It's interesting to me that my Yellow Horn is very relaxing and my yellow MD is somewhat energetic. They're from the same vendor. I mix the MD with some red for my pain needs. The horn does a good job by itself, so no blending required.
I currently have a Yellow Vietnam that I am quite find of. It's mellow happy pain relief and lasts a long time. Love it.

That was my go-to strain for many months, for the above mentioned reasons. I eventually went to a blend of Botanical's Red Vein and COB's Red Maeng Da which has similar effects.
Wow. Been awhile since I posted that reply. Since then I've had the chance to try a few other Yellows. And I must say, I honestly haven't found a yellow yet that I don't enjoy. Yellows are great.
I haven't tried too many yellows. The one that I enjoyed the most was yellow Vietnam from COB and the one that didn't do much for me was yellow horn from Ohio Botanical.
