Samanila outbreak source

Many of the ILK approved vendors have already been investing in these safety features for some time now. It’s become necessary going forward, in a short hurry now.
Have a wee bit better day!
Ya, me too! I'm done! Besides Kraken is lot more expensive than some other options! I like KRAVE, buy it right at my local smoke shop! Great product, and cheaper!
Since there's a lot of people in this thread, just wanted to add that the recall was expanded as of yesterday. I actually got a phone call from PDX and a voicemail saying I had purchased an infected lot.
If I did, I certainly consumed it all with no issues, but it's scary.
I'm currently trying to taper off kratom (for other reasons), but this is pretty scary.

So sorry to hear this, KayKay! You JUST STARTED! I hope you bought a lotto ticket that day, too.
Seriously, so glad you’re ok and able to post! Thank you for confirming that. I already subscribed to recalls and posted this before, but you’re right about the wide reaching implications with that vendor because they DO operate under several pseudo names as well as have MORE businesses involved in the Kava aspect and that hasn’t even been discussed as to whether kraken Kava is any safer, being cleaned, etc (?)
SAFETY FIRST. See VENDORS (above or under index) and the list has proven safe vendors to shop with during this time and other times of shopping need.
Have a wee bit better day!
Thank for your info, There offering a refund, but I want to know what there going to do about my $3000.00 ER bill?
Good job removing them!
Vendor I'm referencing is Kraken Kratom, thats the product that put me in the hospital, I'm 1 of the 3 cases in CA! I've been in contact with them, they were quick in asking questions to find the Source, but they were even quicker to immune themselves from any type of liability to the problem! Yes they offered a recall, and a refund, but left me holding the bag on a $10,000 ER bill! My blue cross paid $7000, but I'm still stuck with a $3000 bill

Hi KayKay!
From what I have experienced - and I am not on ILK staff and this is just my observation over the past few years - the ILK vendor approval application process INCLUDES questions about minimal safety measures being done to assure product is contaminant free (including the FDA’s cGMP’s or current Good Manufacturing Processes).
This has not ALWAYS been a part of the application process. But it HAS been basically since shortly after BanMania 2016 FROM WHAT I RECALL.
The best way TODAY to be sure is to email or call your vendor of interest and ask about their practices with regard to filtering for contaminants. For now.
Part of the changes occurring on ILK are to help highlight the vendors who have been approved by ILK to be above par in the kratom vendor community.
I could be wrong here, hopefully clarification will be added:
There should be a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) on the website of those already meeting the FDA cGMP. Some already are, since contamination is an issue of concern within the kratom community and has been long before the salmonella outbreaks.
The salmonella outbreak is merely hurrying vendors along. It’s expensive to have the system set up. Vendors aren’t keen to have to incur the additional costs (substantial), so there might not be as much of a market for the “cheapest kilos” going forward. The cost of safety will be shared by all of us. As it should be.
Have a wee bit better day!

To add some comfort regarding safety, I’m noticing vendors are blatantly saying in bold letters on their webpages exactly what they’re doing now and what their safety goals are. Many are e-blasting their newsletters with this topic at the head. Transparency exists in the kratom community! Special!

Today I received an email from a Kratom Vendor, saying:
"We have executed a voluntary product recall and are fully cooperating with the FDA's investigation of Salmonella associated with kratom products. Additionally, we have suspended all orders and shipments pending thorough cleaning and disinfection processes and extensive environment and product testing."
If Kratom is 'NOT for human consumption' and therefore NOT regulated by the FDA......how does this make any sense at all? How can the FDA investigate something that's not under its arm?
Do they ship to the US?
Thank, I'll check it out! Saw there home page, looks good! Will contact them!
